Perched atop a cliff, this house for a retired couple was designed as a series of pyramid-roof-capped pavilions unified with a flat roof. A dramatic curving stone screen wall - essentially growing out of the rocky site - greets visitors. The house opens up upon entering with a direct view of the glazed south wall of the home, which fronts a 180 degree view (Mt Baker is clearly visible). Comprised mainly of a single family residence with a single bedroom, the house accommodates visitors via guest bedrooms located below grade - which also supports a rooftop garden accessed from a covered patio off the living area and main floor office. Essential public spaces face directly to the view. All millwork is custom-made, and offset pivot doors are featured throughout.
