This studio/suite was commisioned by a client in Pontiac, Michigan. The building means to house the client's elderly mother in a self-enclosed suite - and provide for an art studio to be utliized by the owners. The client was looking for an unusual structure, and ultimately it was decided to create a spritied vernacular/industrial hybrid that would energize the substantial site, which it would share with the client's residence. Storefront glazing and glazed overhead garage doors make an appearance, here combined with board and batten, cedar shingles, and corrugated metal.
