This project is based on an existing commercial/residential property in Windsor, Ontario. The proposal consists of an addition to an exisitng commercial building, and the rebuilding of two existing compromised houses - all of which are on the same parcel of land. The commercial building would see the addition of a glass 'box' to the upper storey, allowing the creation of an upper floor residential suite. The main floor would retain its commercial status, becoming an art gallery and studio. The two houses would be replaced with newly constructed contemporary dwellings. The project as a whole is an attempt to create a new aesthetic vocabulary for the neighborhood and to create an optimistic 'micro-community' model to influence future development.
